3 Reasons Why Creative People Don't Live Their Dreams

These are my thoughts on why creative people don't live their dreams:
Dreams are easy, realizing dreams is work.
Dreams are easy to think about and are often an escape from reality. However,
if work is needed to realize that dream, it seizes to be a dream. After all, where would
one go to escape?
Money isn't a motivator.
Inspiration to create is not motivated by money. Matter of fact, money stops the flow
of creativity. When is the last time you created something that was full passion,
something that you enjoy doing, solely for the money?
Getting compensated for your talent is your God given right. The "starving artist" is so outdated. So here are a couple of suggestions I use, to invite money and creativity to co-exist:
Keep tract of your creative hours. I know it seems counter intuitive, but structure is a part of life. This could be writing a play, rehearsing for audition or anything that requires your passion and creativity.
Put a dollar amount on those hours or bill per project, and invoice yourself. This may sound silly to some, however, this is a great way for you to get use to expecting and accepting compensation for your creative endeavors.
Do you want to continuing chasing your dreams or do you want to live them?
Real purpose is not in the dream.
You hear many times of people who have reached heights of fame, fortune and suc-
cess and realize that the money, the fame, the social status and all of the other trap-
ings did not make these people feel like they are living a fulfilling life. Finding purpose
is one of the most important parts of success, however it may not look like the
dream that is in your mind. Are you ready for that? Most people are not. Most
people ignore their true purpose to chase a dream that is not for them. A dream that
has been to fed to them by external outlets.
Hear are a couple of suggestions to assist in trusting your purpose:
Notice what brings you joy. I know that sounds simple, that is because it is. What
part of pursuing your dreams brings you joy? If you are an actor, do you enjoy the
audition process? Do you like meeting and connecting with people, other than to get
an audition or job from them?
Notice what doesn't bring you joy. Yes, I know, most dreams are not filled with fun, laughter and leisure all the time. They are built on commitment, intention and work.
Be mindful and honest about this. Is there a part of the process of realizing your dreams
that you hate? That could be a sign.
Being mindful of what and how you are feeling is one way to move towards goals and dreams that feed your soul and give you motivation to live the purposeful creative life of
of your dreams.
